The upcoming It prequel series, Welcome to Derry, doesn’t have much information to speak of yet, but according to a new report from The Illuminerdi, HBO’s casting search for the show has been unveiled.

The latest report notes that production for the series is searching for a Black male lead in their 30s to play “a patriotic Army man.” This character will live in Derry in the 1960s and will be trying to bring together the community of Derry in a rough time. According to the report, he will be a pilot and will play a major role.
As far as child actors go, the report also mentions that HBO is looking to cast a group of young children in various leading roles, although not too much has been revealed on that yet. According to the report, however, the group could resemble the Losers Club from the It series.
The prequel series will reportedly also include the origins of Pennywise the Clown, the mysterious and supernatural figure that haunts Derry.
Andy Muschietti, who directed both It and 2019’s It Chapter Two, will serve as executive producer for the series alongside Barbara Muschietti — his sister — and Jason Fuchs. The report also notes that both Musichiettis and Fuchs developed the story for the show, with Fuchs writing the script. If the project ends up being made into a series, Andy Muschietti is likely to direct the first episode.
