Kiersey Clemons recently appeared in The Flash as Iris West. While the actress had to wade through a litany of changes to the film, she also had to face questions regarding her co-star, Ezra Miller — something she often didn’t know how to handle.
Clemons didn’t feel comfortable speaking on behalf of victims
Speaking to Nylon, Clemons shared her experience doing promotion for the film, and having to answer questions about Miller’s personal issues. Clemons said she doesn’t feel comfortable answering questions about anything in regards to Miller unless it’s from people hurt by them — or if she has their permission.
“I’m having to not just go through my personal experience of Ezra being my friend, but then also having to answer questions that aren’t mine,” Clemons said. “I’m not going to do that in the media unless it’s asked of me by someone who’s been hurt by that person’s actions. Otherwise, I’m speaking on something that isn’t mine without consent. I was getting asked before I was given permission, and also, no one [of Miller’s accusers] has given me permission to speak on their experience with Ezra.”
Trouble has followed Miller for some time over the past few years. Last year, the 29-year-old actor was charged with felony burglary after allegedly stealing alcohol from a Vermont home. Miller was also arrested last April and booked on suspicion of second-degree assault. A month prior to that, Miller was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and harassment in Hawaii.
The actor later issued a statement noting they were “suffering complex mental health issues,” and had begun to seek ongoing treatment.
