A Quiet Place: Day One MPA Rating Revealed for Horror Prequel

The official film rating for Paramount Pictures’ forthcoming horror prequel A Quiet Place: Day One has officially been revealed.

According to Film Ratings, the Motion Picture Association has granted A Quiet Place: Day One a PG-13 rating for “terror and violent content/bloody images.” The Lupita Nyong’o led prequel movie is currently slated to hit the theaters on June 28, pitting it directly against Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga movie. It will also be debuting in the same month as other high-profile features, including Bad Boys 4, The Watchers, Inside Out 2, and Kinds of Kindness.

Who’s the cast of A Quiet Place: Day One?

Based on an idea by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place: Day One is directed by Michael Sarnoski, who is best known for his work in the critically-acclaimed 2021 drama Pig. The film stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as Sam, Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn as Eric, Hereditary’s Alex Wolff as Reuben, and Gladiator’s Djimon Hounsou as Henry. The latter previously appeared in 2020’s A Quiet Place Part II starring alongside Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy.

According to Wolff, the upcoming prequel didn’t really felt like a horror movie because the story was leaning more towards the drama genre. “That’s not a horror movie, not really,” Wolff said. “I might get in trouble for saying that. It’s from the director of Pig, this film I did, so it’s very . . . It’s more a drama. It’s weird going from a $2 million movie to a $100 million movie, and working with the same director and in the same proximity [as the other actors]. There’s only about four or five characters in it. So it was kinda like making Pig, just on a massive scale.”
