Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, have given some estimates regarding the runtime for Marvel‘s Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
After directing 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame for Marvel Studios, the Russos are now headed back to the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The former will arrive in 2026, while the latter comes in 2027.
What did the Russo Brothers say about Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars’ runtimes?
Speaking to Collider, Joe and Anthony were asked about the runtimes for their forthcoming Avengers movies. While the brothers didn’t confirm any exact lengths, they did say, “If I were a betting man, I would say the first one is two and a half, and the second one’s three hours.”
This would be similar to the runtimes for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as Infinity War was a little over two and a half hours long (149 minutes) and Endgame clocked in at just over three hours (181 minutes).
Official plot details for both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars remain under wraps at this time.
It is known that, as announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year, Robert Downey Jr. will star in Doomsday; however, he’s now playing Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom instead of Tony Stark/Iron Man. The main cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps — Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing — and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America/Sam Wilson are also expected to appear, while more announcements are sure to follow in the near future.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026, from Marvel Studios. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on May 7, 2027.
