Rumors surrounding a secret episode of Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 have been circulating online since the episodes dropped. As fan backlash grew, theories about missing footage and secret edits gained traction. Now, one actor from the series has directly addressed and dismissed those claims.

Did Netflix cut scenes from Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 2?

Following the release of Volume 2, a segment of the audience expressed disappointment, citing pacing issues and certain character arcs feeling underdeveloped in Stranger Things Season 5.

That dissatisfaction soon evolved into a viral theory suggesting that Netflix released an altered version of Volume 2. Under the hashtag #NetflixReleaseTheVolume2Files, fans began demanding an “uncut” or “director’s cut,” claiming crucial scenes were removed to change the story’s direction. Supporters pointed to unresolved arcs, especially involving Will Byers, and abrupt shifts in character dynamics as proof of heavy last-minute edits.

The movement largely stemmed from an unsourced Google Docs document shared across social media. The document cited anonymous claims, past interviews, and previously debunked runtime rumors to argue that the season had been tampered with. The theory spread rapidly on X, inspired a Change.org petition nearing 200,000 signatures, and even led to calls for review bombing the season.

As of now, there’s been no official confirmation that Netflix cut scenes from Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2.

Randy Havens debunks Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 2 rumors

Amid the speculation, Randy Havens, who plays Mr. Clarke on the show, addressed the rumors directly. In an Instagram story, Havens dismissed the conspiracy outright, writing: “There is no Snyder Cut of the show, please don’t believe everything some random a** tells you on the internet.”

His comments align with what the creators, The Duffer Brothers, have said in the past. While they confirmed filming thousands of hours of footage, extensive cutting is standard practice in television production and does not indicate the existence of an alternate version. Moreover, volume 2 ultimately frames Will’s arc as one of self-acceptance rather than unfulfilled romance, suggesting the writers intentionally closed the door on a Byler endgame.
