The actor discussed his salary on Vulture’s Good One podcast, hosted by Jesse David Fox, on May 22, 2026. Hauser disclosed that he made between $200,000 and $300,000 for the supporting role in the superhero film.
The actor then broke down how various deductions eat into that initial paycheck. He outlined that taxes, a 10% agent commission, a 10% manager commission, a 5% lawyer fee, and 5% to a business manager all chip away at his gross pay. Hauser also noted that he donates a portion of his income through tithing, giving between 5% and 12% to people in need.
“At the end of the day, what looked like 250k is a lot closer to $136,000,” Hauser said during the interview. He acknowledged that amount remains significant by most standards. However, he stressed it does not provide long-term financial security for a working actor.
Hauser drew a clear distinction between pay for leading roles and supporting parts in major films. He stated that he demands a certain salary when starring in a movie, whether indie or studio. For supporting roles, he recognizes productions have limited budgets and adjusts his expectations accordingly.
The actor also addressed a common misconception about Hollywood earnings for character actors. He pointed out that audiences often assume supporting cast members earn millions alongside top-billed stars. “There’s a reason I do a ton of movies, and it’s because I have to keep doing them,” Hauser said.
He added that his pay on films like Fantastic Four differs greatly from what he earns on projects where he leads. Hauser noted that studios prioritize paying top stars like Sydney Sweeney and Jason Momoa over character actors like himself.
