Marvel is teasing a violent new collision between two of its most unpredictable antiheroes. A cryptic new tease suggests Deadpool and the Punisher are heading for a rematch. This would happen nearly a decade after their last iconic showdown. The studio has instructed fans to watch a specific webpage on Tuesday, June 16, for a “special” announcement, leaving fans waiting till 6:16 a.m. EST.

Deadpool and Punisher’s deadly crossover to be announced very soon

The tease, released by Marvel Comics on Monday on X (formerly Twitter), carries the ominous phrase “This won’t end well” and features the distinct logos of both characters. The Punisher’s iconic skull has been vandalized with “Deadpool Rules!! Frank Droolz!” scrawled across it, the eyes marked out with red X’s. In return, Deadpool’s logo is shown riddled with bullet holes and engulfed in flames. While Marvel stops short of explicitly confirming a new series, the artwork strongly hints at a possible chaotic sequel to their 2017 battle.

A crossover at this specific moment feels remarkably well-timed. Writer Benjamin Percy currently helms both the Wade Wilson: Deadpool and Punisher solo series for Marvel. So, the setup feels like it could be less of a random tease and more like an inevitable extension of his current work.

Plot details remain entirely under wraps, but the antagonistic tone of Deadpool and Punisher’s crossover teaser is unmistakable. Frank Castle’s grim, relentless war on crime stands in sharp contrast to Wade Wilson’s irreverent, motor-mouthed chaos. Their methods may both be lethal, but their personalities operate on opposite ends of the spectrum. A story pitting the stoic soldier against the fourth-wall-breaking mercenary practically writes itself, promising the same intense friction that made their first encounter so memorable.

The announcement comes on the heels of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool being part of Marvel chatter following Deadpool & Wolverine, with rumours swirling about an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday. Jon Bernthal recently returned as Frank Castle in a Disney+ special presentation and is confirmed for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
