It Follows 2 expands its cast with a famous DCU star. The second installment is the sequel to 2015’s classic horror movie and is titled They Follow. It will feature Maika Monroe reprising her role from the original.
Who has joined the cast of It Follows 2?
Naomi Ackie has joined the cast of It Follows 2, a psychological horror film and a much-awaited second part of the decade-old movie, reports Deadline. Ackie is a highly acclaimed actress who will soon appear in DCU’s Clayface, helmed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. The film will star Tom Rhys Harries as Clayface, the enemy of superhero Batman.
Ackie is known for her work in The End of the F***ing World and Master of None. She has also appeared in Lady Macbeth, Mickey 17, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Blink Twice, and Sorry, Babe.
Alongside the sequel’s story, details of Ackie’s role in They Follow are currently under wraps. Earlier this year, the star of the first movie, Monroe, teased the plot without confirming anything. “It’s not at all what I expected, where you would find [her character] Jay, which I thought was really interesting,” she said.
Monroe added, “I was like, ‘Whoa! Cool,’ which I think the audience will probably have a similar reaction. I know this might sound cliché, but it’s staying true to the original where we’re bringing back all the same team . . . The story is very much still in that space, but it’s just grander and, yeah, I’m really, really excited for it.”
It Follows 2 will take place 10 years after the events of the first part. Monroe previously confirmed that the production will begin this summer.
When the first movie received a wide theatrical release in 2015, it became a box office success. On a budget of just $2 million, It Follows grossed over $23 million worldwide, according to The Numbers. It also earned rave reviews from critics, landing a stellar 95% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.
It Follows 2 has yet to receive an official release date window.
