A new Yellowstone spin-off starring Luke Grimes is officially in the works.
Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton in a Yellowstone sequel series that is currently titled Y: Marshals. That is the working title for the show at this time, meaning that it could change before the show actually airs.
Per Deadline, the drama will join CBS’ midseason lineup, meaning that it will premiere sometime in spring 2026 on Sundays at 9 p.m.
What is the logline for the new Yellowstone spin-off show with Luke Grimes?
Y: Marshals will see Kayce “combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”
Spencer Hudnut will serve as the showrunner for Y: Marshals. He is also an executive producer alongside Grimes, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari. MTV Entertainment Studios and Taylor Sheridan will produce the show, while Paramount Global Content Distribution is the distributor.
Deadline’s article notes, “Sources said showrunner Spencer Hudnut had been working on ideas for over a year for the spinoff while it went through the approval process with Sheridan and getting a commitment from Grimes.”
“Spencer Hudnut had run a broadcast show before,” said CBS President Amy Reisenbach. “We do have a budget for that show that is in line with other broadcast series.” Hudnut has previously worked on shows such as Unforgettable, The Blacklist: Redemption, and SEAL Team, the latter of which ran for 114 episodes.
Regarding how much Sheridan, who co-created the main Yellowstone series, will be involved with Y: Marshals, Reisenbach said, “We’re still early in the process. He’s a very busy guy, so we’ll take what we can get.”
