The Spider-Man 4 cast continues to grow, with a new report revealing that two major characters will be joining Tom Holland in the upcoming MCU film.

What villain will be appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

According to a new report from THR, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Mando will both be appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Ruffalo will be reprising his longtime MCU role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, while Mando will be reprising his role as Mac Gargan, also known as The Scorpion, a classic Spider-Man villain.

Mando briefly appeared in the very first Spider-Man MCU movie, 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Mando’s Gargan was captured by Spider-Man toward the end of the film, and then appeared in the film’s post-credits scene, where he interacts with Adrian Toomes/Vulture (Micheal Keaton) about Toomes potentially knowing Spider-Man’s real identity.

As for Ruffalo, we haven’t seen his character since 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, where he appeared in a mid-credits scene alongside Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and Benedict Wong’s Wong to discuss the rings that Xu Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) found. Prior to that, The Hulk also appeared in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

The pair of actors join an already star-studded cast, that includes new cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), with Jon Bernthal also set to make his movie debut as Frank Castle/Punisher. The latter recently played the anti-hero again in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Avi Arad.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel.

Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026 ahead of Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027), following Doomsday’s delay.
